July 31st

At night we hiked in the Machtesh and had an incredible view of the stars from the center of the Machtesh. A Machtesh is formed from a mountain surrounded by an ocean. The Mountain had eroded while other mountains around it were growing creating this vast hole.

August 1st

Today we opened our day with a Rosh Hodesh service on a overlook of the Machtesh. We then traveled to an area in the Machtest and hiked through a nature reserve to a peak of a mountain with a gorgeous view.  After our hike we headed to a park where we ate lunch and played games. After lunch we settled down in the kibbutz we were staying in for the night and swam in the pool, shopped at the mini market and relaxed around the grounds. Before heading to dinner we split into groups of women and boys for a personal Rosh Hodesh activity. For dinner we headed to the old kibbutz less than a mile away. Here we split in half and some of us cooked a wonderful dinner while the others prepared skits for our dinner and a show. It was yummy and amusing and we all had a blast while learning about the history of the kibbutz.
